What passes for logic on the left

Janeane Garofalo: "Herman Cain is probably well liked by some of the Republicans because it hides the racist elements of the Republican party. Conservative movement and tea party movement, one in the same.

"People like Karl Rove liked to keep the racism very covert. And so Herman Cain provides this great opportunity say you can say 'Look, this is not a racist, anti-immigrant, anti-female, anti-gay movement. Look we have a black man.'"

Ok, let me see if I get this straight. Republicans are racists so they support Cain to hide thier racism?  Does this make sense to anyone?

I know that morons like Janeane are incapable of changing their position no matter what data is presented to them, but can't the rest of the left just admit that the right hates Obama for being a lefty? It has nothing to do with Obama's race.

I think I just predicted this in a comment in the "obamanation" thread last week.
Tea party types like Herman Cain because they hate black people...
Typical liberal logic.

Address the logic here. Can you? I think not.

My point nobody is that we are spending valuable time calling each other racists when there are more important things that need to be discussed. Sorry I did not spell this out clearer for you.

You addresed nothing. You deflected the question, side steped. Take me through the steps, Republicans are so racsist that they support a Black guy. How does that follow?

I don't agree that all of the right hates Obama because he is a left. Some dislike him for that reason and I'm sure there are others that dislike him for being black. It's not an all or nothing scenario.

Faulty assumption. The right is bigoted. Wrong. Common, Woody, grow up. I hate no group, I don't care who you sleep with, what color you are, what gender you are. Get a grip, some of us don't like central comand and control. We kinda like freedom. Do you? Oh I forgot, you are a patriotic centerist freedom lover (that wants his life controled from DC) How's that light bulb deal doing for ya?

Woody

Oh for Christ sake nobody. I can chooose whatever light bulb I want to in my home nobody is forcing me to do anything. Get over it! I want my life controlled from DC??? Where do yu come up with that line of crap?? I love freedom as much as you do and I will not question your love of freedom so I ask that you do the same and never question mine. You hate no group? Fine, I believe that if you truthfully say so. Did I ever say you did hate anybody or any group?? Seems like you like to put words in my mouth just to pick a little fight. Well, save your breath nobody, I'm a lover not a fighter. Peace!

You can, huh?
written by sanders , October 02, 2011

At least for now, you can. In 3 months, you won't be able to buy 100w incandescent light bulbs.

Tried to buy any full flush toilets lately?
Tried to get a health plan that doesn't cover mastectomy? (real helpful for a single guy...)
Tried to buy gasoline without ethanol?

Woody, you're the frog in the pot, and the water is getting warmer. Someday, DC is going to ban something that you like. Just remember this thread when that happens.

Back on topic... Do you agree with Garafolo that we are racist and like Herman Cain because he IS black?

Nobody

100 watt incandescents, in 2014, none at all. Shower heads that flow more than 2 gpm, toilets that flush, burning leaves, a car without 5mph bumpers, Face it woody, we have few freedoms left. But I support a black guy because I'm a racist.

IMHO, the left has used "racist" as code for STFU for too long.It doesn't work much anymore with people like me and others. It does still work on guilt ridden libs and centerists.

Steve Anderson

It works well with people in office that are afraid of the label. Racist, Homophobe, Sexist... All are labels that elected officials are afraid of. But you know the left is going to be throwing this shit out every chance they get. Janeane is just trying to set it up so the left can do so even if Cain is our candidate, and the MSM will report every accusation like it is truth from the Mount.

Woody

Why would FOX News report these accusations like they are truth from the Mount sanders??

Woody

Ducking and dodging?? You birch and moan that the "mainstream media" does not expose the racism on the left while the news outlet with the largest percentage of viewers does this at any chance they get. That may seem obtuse to you when it is not spelled out more clearly.

Sequel

Yes, Woody.
Fox news may report on liberals making racist statements. Also righty blogs, national review and the Weekly Standard. These are places correctly viewed as right leaning outlets.

NBC, ABC, CBS, NPR, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, NYTimes, Washington post, LATimes, Chcago Tribune, Miami Hearald, Boston Globe, Seattle Post, SF Chronicle, Minneapolis Star/Tribune, etc, etc. None of these "Non-ideological" outlets will report when leftist charges of racism are disproved. They will breathelessly report the most specious BS like one guy booed a gay soldier, or will show any outrage when the inevitable uncle Tom, House Ni&&er BS are tossed at a Herman Cain.

It's injustice by hypocrites, and it pisses us off.

Oh no. For Woody, a mention on Fox news should be good enough for us when these outrages happen.

Rosie calls Bush Hitler, and says it wasn't jihadist assnozzles, but Bush that murdered 3000 Americans on 9/11:

Hank Williams Jr. compares the Obama/Boehner golf game to Hitler playing with Netanyahu.

Fox may note the hypocrisy, but I doubt it.

is a reason FOX is numero uno. Thier news product is pretty much down the middle. Yes they have opinion shows but they don't mask it as un-biased.

Steve Anderson
Woody

If you read my comment, you would see that I was saying that the left's 'accusations' would get play on the MSM as if it was truth (FNC would be the exception)... I did not 'birch' that the MSM doesn't expose the racism on the left. FNC is not the entirety of the MSM, even if they are one of the top rated networks.

Sequel put a pretty good list of the media that would be trumpeting any charge of 'Racism' aimed at just about any GOP candidate. That's a pretty good list arrayed against one centrist leaning channel. Watch for it, and when it happens, I'll be right there with you complaining to those media 'giants', since you 'wish like hell' that it doesn't happen.

So, Yes, you did dodge my point; whether through misreading my comment, or deliberately changing the subject.

"So, Yes, you did dodge my point; whether through misreading my comment, or deliberately changing the subject."

It's usually the latter, Sanders. Birchwood is an expert at deflecting reality and then either going obtuse or changing the subject altogether to something virtually irrelevant to the original point. In this case, he thought he would end all discussion by going straight to his favorite source for propaganda, the one, true, "down the middle" source, the Huffpo. And he apparently doesn't appreciate the irony in quoting from a source that is at best hack polemics from Madame Evil herself. Woody, I invite you to ask your lefty friends about how much respect they have for Arianna's employment journalistic and business practices, you won't like what you find. Wow, (just) wow.

Don't like the message, attack the messenger; I get that. I was going to attach the link to this story from Drudge where I first saw it but opted to link the Huffpost piece instead to see the reaction it got and I was not dissapointed. You are all to predictable.

Barthélemy Barbancourt
Sadly, so are you.
written by Barthélemy Barbancourt , October 04, 2011

We often put up the indefensible and you either try to change the subject or attack the messenger. You could have started with the fact that Janean is wrong and that would have been that.

Instead you led off with a broad based attack on everyone that discussed racism before finally admitting that most Republicans aren't racists. You added fuel to the fire you supposedly didn't want in the first place.

Only 19% of Americans will admit to being a liberal because of antics like this. Liberals can't ever talk straight, especially when it's about an insane leftist.

Republicans have no trouble telling you that Ron Paul is nuts, Newt G is unelectable and that Mitt Romney and Rick Perry have some issues. The right isn't perfect, but they are more honest than that left.

Nobody

written by Nobody , October 04, 2011

Woody ever does is duck, deflect and change the subject. It took him 50 some posts to admitt that Janeane was wrong. When your centerist, patriotic, freedom loving views are flat wrong, that's what you have to do. Meanwhile, he'll buy a car without 5 mph bumpers and a full flush toilet with a 100watt light over it.

Read what I write for Pete's sake. I said long ago that I don't agree with Janean. If there is anything else you would like me to address regarding this post, please let me know and I'd be happy to oblige.

Barthélemy Barbancourt
Why didn't you start with that?
written by Barthélemy Barbancourt , October 04, 2011

That is the issue. The left has to have a ton of disclaimers before stating the obvious.

As for the toilets, I have new and old in the house and the new one is freaking worthless. Congress should never have gotten into to the toilet, light bulb or car businesses. They should let the market decide what is best.
