The HPV vaccine

Some on the left and the right are having fun with Rick Perry's executive order to vaccinate girls in Texas against cervical cancer. Jason Lewis had a truly cro-magnon approach to the issue last night on his show.

So what is your take on Perry's attempt to protect the next generation from cancer? Would you support a mandatory Polio vaccine today? Does the fact the the disease is transmitted sexually color how you view the issue?

Back in the day everybody knew somebody that had polio. They didn't know how is spread (fecal contamination). So when the vaccine came out parents could not wait to get thier sugar cube. I remember standing in line with my brothers.

I don't know if that would happen today. All the kids in m generation got measels, chicken pox, mumps etc. My Grandkids wont have to put up with any of that.

A cancer vaccine...
I had my daughter take it at 15.
Why would you not have your girl take it?
Because you know how virtuous she'll be?

It only protects against a few of the many HPV types. I'm conflicted, does it give permition to sleep around?

She's 18 now and off to college.
I doubt that not getting HPV was a factor in whether or not she was uh, well, ah, ya know, um.
Stop making me think of that!

And that is why the parents of perfect little Susie don't want to get the shots.

All in all, I don't like the heavy hand of government, but this is one lousy campaign issue.
It makes the detractors of Cong. Bachman right. And if my Republican governor had made this mandatory I would find it distasteful but understand it.

Public health issues are ptoblematic. Chicken pox you could get by hanging out. To get HPV, you got to be sleeping around. Educate you daughters, scare the crap out of them, alls fair in love and parenting.

I found some gnarly pictures on the 'net of STD's scared the crap out of my girls, good.

yes to prevention

It's more risky and expensive if we will make some actions when the disease is already there. As much as possible, we have to do the prevention measures. The Republican candidate controversy on Sept. 12 raised several questions regarding possible presidential prospects. Michelle Bachmann's statements about the HPV vaccine have raised the ire of medical experts and public-health supports alike. One healthcare professional believes that candidate Michelle Bachmann's statements are entirely factually wrong. In fact, he has set a $10,000 gamble available, daring her to prove him incorrect. It looks like the HPV vaccine is going to get a huge installment loans from the man.
