President Obama has deployed troops to central Africa to aid in the fight against the Lord's Resistance Army. In a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehner, Obama says 12 troops with "appropriate combat equipment" were deployed on October 12 and approximately 100 in total will be deployed including a second combat team and headquarters, communications and logistics personnel....
The troops will not fight except in self-defense.
Can anyone say Black Hawk Down?

Our pal Jim ross has been commenting here for quite some time now. This week he made the comparison between gubernatorial hopeful Tom Emmer and the boyband 98 Degrees. That alone was funny as hell to me, as his logic was pretty spot on. Here is his comment:

Tarryl Clark. You all know her...and if you don't, just think of a woman that, maybe 20 years ago, might have been attractive were you to bump into her in a dimly lit bar after you downed 3 pitchers of Hamms. Oh yeah, and imagine that her voice that sounds like nails on a chalkboard, combined with a touch of Burgess Meredith.
Yes, I'm being petty, but who gives a fuck. I can't stand her. Her platform blows, she stands for nothing other than party, and she wants nothing more than to grow government.

Contained in this link is a nifty interactive calculator. Just enter your annual salary and it will calculate what your federal tax burden is currently scheduled to be, then what it will be if the tax cuts expire. The BMW and I will experience an increase in our tax burden of nearly 12%. We are not rich.
After the break, you'll find a breakdown of what the increases will mean.

Hey look! It's the Obama's, on another vacation!! And what do you know, the liberal MSM is covering for them, calling this vacation "showing the Gulf as a vacation spot".
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - Catching a glimpse of porpoises, President Barack Obama and his family went boating Sunday as part of a weekend trip to the Gulf of Mexico that was designed to showcase the region's attractions as well as the president's concern for those affected by the BP oil spill.
Nope, nothing to see here, please move along. How fucking pathetic. I hope you liked the porpoises, Mr. President. You got to see them thanks to my taxes.

It's getting to be that time again... The kids will be starting their Junior year in just a few weeks, so it's also that time to make sure they are ready, at least from a registration standpoint. So, as I reviewed the high school website today, I stumbled upon the registration information and found a neat little gem tucked conveniently between the "class fee form" (it costs $7.00 to be a Junior this year) and the "health" and "Locker" forms.
Ethnicity Verification form
Every school district is now required to report to the department of education each year all student data by race and ethnicity categories that are set by the federal government. While the DoE does not report individual student data to the fed, they do report the total number of students in various categories in each school...apparently these are meant to help track changes in student enrollements, but also to ensure the students receive the education programs and services to which they are entitled.
The reporting categories have recently changed, hence the new forms. There are two questions on each form.

The most transparent administration evah continues to be, well, as clear as mud.
Rep. Charles Rangel reportedly has struck a deal with the congressional panel investigating alleged ethics violations.
A deal. What kind of a deal we don't know, but this begs the question - WHY? The man that sat as Chairman of the Ways and Means committee is up on tax violation and ethics charges. That committee deals with, um, TAXES, among other things. And he's getting a deal?? Didn't San Fran Nan suggest that she was prepared to "drain the swamp" recently?

Apparently that's what I'm doing. Yep, I say such inflammatory things as "a man is equal to any other man regardless of skin color" or because I didn't own slaves nor did anyone in my family, I "don't have an ounce of guilt in my body". For that, I'm fueling a race war. If it were only that simple.

...but what is he sorry about? I'm not entirely certain he's sorry for the right reasons.
Eight-term Indiana Rep. Mark Souder announced his resignation Tuesday after admitting to an affair with a female aide who worked in his district office.
Souder, a Republican, will will step down on Friday. He said in remarks obtained by Fox News that he "sinned against God, my wife and my family by having a mutual relationship with a part-time member of my staff."
"I wish I could have been a better example," he said. "In this poisonous environment of Washington D.C., any personal failing is seized upon, often twisted, for political gain. I am resigning rather than to put my family through that painful, drawn-out process. ... We are a committed family but the error is mine and I should bear the responsibility. Not only am I thankful for a loving family but for a loving God."

I might lose my effing mind. I have a friend that has been working TONS of hours as an aide at the capital and as we all know, the state House and Senate have been working their tails off trying to finish the budget. Well, she came upon a room where a few House members were sitting having a very serious discussion.
