There's a guy walking around in the backyard checking for the buried cable. I'm about to do something I haven't done for 25 years. Pay for television.
I remember back in the 60s when cable was first getting started. There were PSAs on TV about the eeevils of "pay TV". One had a TV with a coin box that had big sharp teeth. Perhaps that scared my young psyche.
Americans watch too damn much TV. It is a passive activity which does little to encourage intellectual development. In many cases it does the exact opposite. Between modern "sitcoms" and "reality" shows, the vast wasteland has become vaster and much more wasteful. I never could see the benefit of spending hard-earned money on it.
But, as usual, the G.D. federal government has made the decision for me, those bastards. Digital TV sucks. Often it's like watching a really scratched DVD. Your picture breaks up and you get three out of five words. This makes my Sunday afternoon (professional league played on a diamond with a round, white object and long ashwood sticks) traditional viewing suck.
So I'm getting the hook-up. With high-speed Internet bundled, of course. TV is a luxury, but I live online.

Don't do it!!! At least try to hold off until fall. Or invest in a roof mounted antenna. I heard that if you are too close to the tower the signal tends to go mostly above you. Roof antenna should do the trick.
Don't worry, the couch won't levitate if you turn off the TV and go outside and enjoy summer.
I find that BYA 24/7 leaves little time for playing couch potato.

You should be able to simply get the bare-bones if you want to limit it to that, Kermit.
But, don't pay CommCast or some of the other customer-service-inept folks. They're bastards to a man.

My Father has been fighting with his satellite TV provider. Seems they tax you on the Entire FULL price rate, despite you are paying a LOWER monthly intro. price.

I gave up the boob tube almost a year a go and never looked back. At first I missed those great hours sitting on my fat butt and accomplishing nothing. A year later I don't miss it a bit and dispies (sp)having to sit in front of one for any length of time. Give it up for awhile and soon you'll wonder how you got through life WITH it.

Progress?
