Poverty and Morality

Minneapolis liquor store looted after tornado

Soon after a tornado ripped through North Minneapolis on Sunday afternoon, an estimated 20 looters ripped off Broadway Liquor Outlet.

Notice that the crooks are stealing booze, not diapers and baby formula.

Each year I become more convinced that poverty and a lack of morality are strongly connected. I come to this lately through some personal experiences and most of what I see in the world today supports my findings.

I believe they were looking for diapers and baby formula in this store where the windows blew out. However, after a futile search, they found none and opted for the Dewars and Makers Mark instead. Hopefully these idiots are not operating chainsaws during the cleanup efforts. Sympathies to the families of the two fatalities in this tragedy.

It's great to find common ground. I sense I've finally found Woody's Bridge Too Far in North Minneapolis!

The television coverage and my own eyewitness observation are telling. The learned-helplessness that the welfare mentality induces was on grand display- while self-supporting types were quickly organized and busily at work, chainsaws a-humming, clearing and cleaing out their block- the dependent class were either aimlessly milling about or going in front of the camera calling for the government to come bail them out.
