Just what is Obama hiding?
The poorly named Birther movement has just had a major boost. For those of you that have dismissed the whole idea that the commander-in-chief of the US military should be held to the same requirements as a 16 year old getting a drivers license, Lt. Col. Terry Lakin has been court martialed for not obeying a deployment order from Barak Obama.
Lt. Col. Lakin has stated that he will gladly deploy when Barak Obama produces a real birth certificate. To date Obama has only provided an image of a registration form and has yet to provide a copy of his original birth certificate.
[I]t is my opinion that LTC Lakin's request for discovery relating to the President's birth records in Hawaii is absolutely essential to determining not merely his guilt or innocence but to reassuring all military personnel once and for all for this President whether his service as Commander in Chief is Constitutionally proper. He is the one single person in the Chain of Command that the Constitution demands proof of natural born citizenship. This determination is fundamental to our Republic, where civilian control over the military is the rule. According to our Constitution, the Commander in Chief must now, in the face of serious-- and widely held-- concerns that he is ineligible, either voluntarily establish his eligibility by authorizing release of his birth records or this court must authorize their discovery. The invasion of his privacy in these records is utterly trivial compared to the issues at stake here.
And is McInerney a serious person? Yes. He's a West Point graduate who ran the Alaskan air command during the Exxon Valdez disaster. As recently as August 5, he was featured on Fox News and referred to as a network contributor -- he's typically referred to as a network military analyst. He writes and comments fairly frequently about how America could bomb Iran. Point is, he's not some kook, and now he's staking his reputation on... this.
With Obama's popularity hovering around 40% and 20% of Americans thinking that the man is a practicing Muslim, it might be time for Obama to come clean and produce proof that he is actually fit to lead our troops.
Personally, I think he probably was born in Hawaii, but there is some info on his birth certificate that doesn't corroborate Obama's narrative about his life. Obama is too thin skinned to admit it and has created a huge issue rather than come clean about his past.
It has also been stated that Obama is listed as a Muslim when he applied to Occidental College. If Obama would just release his records, Americans would trust him more for being honest. Of course, we all know that that will never happen.

Whatever the truth is about the circumstances of his birth, he sure doesn't want people to know any documentable facts about his origins.
Kinda like Mark Dayton's teaching career.

I have to admit I do not get all this birther nonsense. Girl or not, there is no doubt that his mother was a citizen, so he is. It doesn't matter where he was born. Any birther talk takes focus away from the craziness of his policies.
I was in Hawaii January 2, 2009 and had one cab or tour bus driver after another drive by the apt complex where he was raised by his grandmother and the "31 Flavors" that he worked at as a teen. Perhaps its his early Indonesian madras education that programmed him to be a soft-socialist.

The first is why won't he release this basic record? What is he hiding?
Second, how did a man that we know almost nothing about get into office? Obama has no real connection to the public. It is showing in the polls that ask if people know what his religion is. The public has a right to know who he is.
Finally, the Congress and the press may not care about the rules, but the military does. Obama has not presented the proper paperwork to show that he is eligible to be the Commander in Chief. The military isn't into politics. They need a well defined chain of command and insist that subordinates make sure that their orders are legitimate.
Obama is playing a very dangerous game. If a substantial part of the military determines that he is not a legitimate commander in chief, he will jeopardize civilian control of the military. This could be critical if our economy slips further into depression.
Plus there is the fun of de-legitimizing Obama in ways that were impossible with Bush or Clinton. If enough people decide that Obama is not a legimate president, he won't be able to continue his socialist agenda.
This is why the press is scared shitless about the poll that shows most Americans either think Obama is a Muslim or don't know what he is. They know that as more and more people see Obama as not like them, more and more will resist his policies and push their representatives to vote against Obama. People don't support aliens.

Bart, The military has nothing to do with whether or not the President is the Commander in Chief, he just is. No paperwork can stop that.
As to de-legitimizing Obama, no outside effort is needed. He is doing it by himself.

Who claims not to be a "birther"', you sure talk about it a lot. He's a US citizen - more than enough proof has been vetted.
People think he's a Muslim because A) they limit where they get their information; B) the right has done a masterful job of keeping the lie alive, C) he's black with a name like Barack Hussein, and D) they are intellectually lazy.
