I Have To Wonder

Why do liberals hate Israel and love, love, love Cuba?  They jump up and down like the proverbial poo-flinging monkey and cry about "Palestinians" being oppressed, and applaud little boys named Elian being sent at gunpoint back into slavery.

Why do they condemn a vital democracy that is surrounded by theocratic regimes?  What is it about dictators like Hugo Chavez that sends a thrill down their legs?   I have made many excursions into analyzing the perverse thought processes of the liberal mind, and there always seems to be one common thread.

Liberals really hate America.

And because they hate America, they are compelled towards America's antithesis, regardless of how henious the regime.  It's cool to wear a t-shirt with the face of mass murdering psychopath Che on it, because he's anti-American.  You have to hate Israel, because it's a functioning democracy that America supports.  The USSR wasn't so bad, and that dotard Reagan didn't really contribute to it's collapse.  It dissolved because they felt they were doing the right thing.

You really have to stand in awe of the psychology of the liberal mind.  It can be presented with the serial lies Barack Obama has told it, and declaim "But Bush..." without batting a synapse.  You see, Bush reminded them of America, the real America they hate so venemously.  Obama is an international kind of guy.

So we can ignore Iran executing political dissidents, because they're not Israel.  We can ignore Saudi Arabia imprisoning rape victims, because they're not Israel.  Shiites blowing up Sunnis in Iraq?  Well, they aren't Jews, thank Gaia.  Besides, it's all Bush's fault, and at least they aren't Israel.

Israel is the root of all the problems in the Middle East, and America is the root of all the problems in the world.   Haven't you read The People's History of America?

Israel will most likely lead us into WW 3. They spy on their friends (us) and show an arrogance unequaled by any country -- except us. I know you like rewriting history but it was Palestinian land before it was Israel.

As horrific as the holocaust was, the guilt the rest of the world has over that period in history has long been exhausted. We stand alone with them right now and mark my words -- if their arrogance threatens the oil supplies in the mideast, we will not support their actions.

Liberals aren't fans of Castro or Chavez either. We should drop the embargo against Cuba and we have to work with Chavez until we reduce dependence on the black gold he sits on top of.

I have a dinner riding on this comment getting at least 30 follow up comments. Let the rants commence.

And I thought you guys were pro-business. By holding back your always "enlightened" insight, a local restaurant is losing out on a potentially big tab.

Uh, I doubt we are holding back more than a shot at the dollar menu.

So liberals don't love Cuba? Bullshit! Hollywood loves Castro and Cuba.

As for Chavez, we don't have to worry about his oil as he fired everyone that knew how to pump it and production is dropping.

As for spying, are you saying that Israel is the only country with spies? Or that they are the only ones that spy on their allies? If so, you have a kindergarten view of international relations.

Iranian President I wanna Jihad is much more likely to start WWIII. His hatred of Israel is psychotic. If you think that but abandoning Israel the Muslims would suddenly love us and turn to peace you are sadly mistaken. Most Muslim countries have to have someone to hate to avoid dealing with the failed states that Islam creates. They would continue hating and killing regardless of Israel or the Jews.

Never forget, if the "Palestians" drooped thier weapons, there would be peace tomorrow. If Israel stopped defending themselves there would be a massacre. The entire peace problem is due to the hatred of some Tran-Jordanians. The Arab world has tried repeated to wipe out Israel and they have failed. This shows how pathetic these people really are.

"I thought you quit us Al? " Well, the incentive of a great meal convinced me otherwise.

The problem with Israel is that they have nukes and Iraq/Iran do not - yet. Israel is so convinced that God has made them the chosen people that they tend to do irrational things. There's a good chance they will use nukes somewhere and that is going to provoke the Russians and China. We will regret ever giving them nukes.

As for being a democracy, they are, sort of. They treat Palestinians like we did Native and African Americans. And it was the Palestinian's land to begin with.

Wow Al, talk about going for the low hanging fruit.
You only need 30 comments, and you go right for the Jews are irrational, mean to palestinians, and will probably nuke the peace loving Iranians card.
Almost like cheating.

If you ever questioned whether Al was complete moron, let his/her/it's own words speak for themselves.
The problem with Israel is that they have nukes and Iraq/Iran do not
Cue Jon Stewart saying "What? So everything would be great if Iraq/Iran had nukes?"
Remember when Al used to say Bush was stoopid? Somewhere there's a village...

Well 5Al, I want you to have at least one meal today. There is no such place as "Palestine". The land has always belonged to the Jews. "Palistine" was a name the Romans gave the joint after the up-rising to piss off the Jewish tribes. When the UN carved out another Israel, it was from Transjordan. I can't recall a lib I've met that was pro Israel.

Jews have kicked Arab (and Persian) ass since David.

So how is Iran getting a nuke a good thing?

Thank you.

Nobody, every and I mean every history ever written about the Middle East and the creation of Israel agrees that present day Israel was carved out of Palestine.

Iran having a nuke is not a good thing and no one ever said it was.

And the only reason Israel ever kicked anyone's ass is because we gave them the tools to do it. It's not that liberals hate Israel -- we're not willing to turn a blind eye to their arrogance to assuage our guilt.

The only reason we continue to support them is guilt over the holocaust and our need for a stable friend in an area that produces our oil. Once the oli is gone, so too will be our blind support of them. Its basic economics and politics.

And once the boomers all move to the happy hunting ground, most of the guilt goes with them. Support for Israel among younger Americans and Europeans is mild at best.

Liberals project their guilt like Disney promotes it's image. Liberals are the most sincerely deluded people I have ever encountered.

Boy, you need to get some better history books. The country was Transjordan. In latin the name was Palistinum. In Americ it is Filistine. It is the name of a goat hearding nomadic tribe, that even the other arabs hated. (why do you think the Egyptions have a wall at Gaza?

Like I said since David...

"Carved out of Palestine". Not that's some funny, revisionist history. I'd like to consult the Seljuks and the Ottomans to get their perspective.

"We will regret ever giving them nukes."

Was that official U.S. policy or a backdoor deal? I thought the Israelis lied to the world while they developed their own, but I haven't researched it.

As for Israel's existence, the only benefit to the U.S. I can think of was their attack on Iran's nuclear site several years ago. Other than that, we don't seem to have much if anything to show for the money and lost goodwill.

My Jordanian buddy believes a Jewish cabal is trying to ignite a war between Christians and Muslims. It's an interesting theory, although I tend to be leery of conspiracy theories, if only because it's hard to believe such things could be kept secret.

That was Iraq, under Saddam Hussein, not Iran. But then, you are so well versed in history, aren't you.
I shall now return to ignoring you.

is superficial at best. Your helpful correction of my misstatement of fact is proof of that. I've also said here that we're all both teacher and student. There are undoubtedly other things you could teach me as well, but it might be helpful if you kept in mind that none of us knows much compared to what we don't know.
