Global AIDS Activists Pine For President Bush

Headlines like this make me smile. GW Bush is an unabashed Christian; he saw the need in Africa and put some real money behind it. His policies were more effective than Clinton's and the people of Africa appreciate him for it.

Barak Obama couldn't care less about AIDS nor Africa.

Those new concerns about costs dominated the 18th International AIDS Conference, which drew 19,300 participants from 193 countries to Vienna last week.

“If I were to characterize the mood here, I would say it was a combination of rage and panic,” said Joanne Carter, director of the anti-poverty group Results and a board member of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

The rage is directed at the Obama administration, which many activists say is reneging on a commitment to continue big annual increases in global AIDS spending. The panic arises from the knowledge that in some African countries, patients who want antiretroviral treatment are being turned away and will soon start dying.

Some activists pine for former president George W. Bush, who launched a much-praised multibillion-dollar fund to fight AIDS around the world. But now, in the eyes of many, the U.S. government has replaced the pharmaceutical industry as the main impediment to progress.

It is odd that the nations first African-American President will end up being despised in Africa for his indifference. Yet we have always pointed out that Obama only cares deeply about one thing in this world: Barak Hussein Obama.

History will remember GW for getting striking at terrorist camps in Afghanistan, getting Saddam, and his fight against AIDS.

I wish he could have been remembered as an effing conservative... but he didn't really go down that road much.

History will remember his ruinous tax cuts for the wealthy which helped turn projected surpluses into record deficits, his reading "My Pet Goat" while America suffered the worst terrorist attacks in American history, lying us into invading Iraq, and the economic meltdown that demonstrated the need for govt regulation.

A GOPer recently called the timing of W's book (due out in November) "selfish and stupid" because the last thing the GOP wants is for the electorate to be reminded of the disaster that was Republican "leadership" of the country.

Onan could be classified as "unhinged", if he in fact possessed a hinge. He is proof that BDS has no half-life.

Hell he still has RDS and President Reagen has been dead for how long? I think I have figured out why he has such a hard on to get every ones money when they die. He wants the
goverment to to have all the money to take care of his misguided idea that its the goverments job to house clouth and feed everybody. That is why he is so bent out of shape when we tell him hes wrong about the Death Tax He thinks its every bodys job to take care of all others. That the goverment is being held back from all the good it can really do only if everybody gave all the cash to the goverment then and only then can Amarica reach its true place in the world. The dame bank for welfare pukes.

Well Onan has a point. We want the country to focus on the real disaster that is Democrat leadership which has been going on for four plus years now.
