Shame

It's just a shame they couldn't both lose.

That's OK, Ed. The Democrats outspent Coleman 4 to 1 on lawyers, assuring that we all lose. Except the DNC, of course.

I'm with Ed, neither one of them deserved to win.
Tied at 42% isn't exactly a ringing endorsement for either on of them.

Coleman was a squishy moderate with an alarming lack of convictions.
Franken is an unfunny comic who specializes in nasty snark.

Unreal

I'm living in a scary dream. Al wants to be on the flipin Juditiary Commitee! Does he have a degree in anything? He's no lawyer (I hope.)

Coleman

Coleman did an admirable job of digging into UN affairs. Franken, who occassionally is capable of asking good, deep, probing questions, might have done as well, but I do not think the desire to do so would have been there.

I am sorry we do not have a run-off (NOT INSTANT) election here, under which scenerio Coleman would have won. But then we might have had Skip Humphrey as a Gov instead of the entertaining and mostly fiscally conservative Ventura.

Run-off (not instant) voting should be a the forefront of everyone's agenda after this blatant theft by Franken's lawyers.
Fix the system, or settle for dictatorship.

Instant Runoff
written by Badda , July 01, 2009

I still don't want Instant Runoff Voting, regarless of whether or not it would have helped Coleman keep his seat or prevent Franken from gaining his.

It's a lousy idea and gives the voter the option of changing his vote after the fact... effectively having more than one election on a single ballot, which would still be analyzed by the questionable practices we already saw over the last seven or eight months.

Instant runoff
written by Sequel , July 01, 2009

Instant runoff is BS.
However many states have an automatic runoff if neither candidate can get 51%.
So you either get a majority or the top 2 try again.
But what if the 2 tie in the runoff?
Then what eh?

Give it to the democrat of course!

Mr Franken has a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Harvard.

Political Science. Hmm. I never noticed before. Those two words do not fit together. What's scientific about politics?

As far as I can tell, politics is mostly hand shaking, back stabbing, butt kissing, and financial shenanigans.

Mr Franken is an asshole of the first degree.

Have you met Mr Franken, Kermit?

I have not, but I don't like the look on his face.

Same for Norm.

I do not know Franken personally.
But I know Ed Morrisy. Mr. Franken tried to physically attack Ed for daring to disagree on some political point. Franken had to be restrained.

here is a photo taken seconds before his people had to pull him away.

Franken also physically assualted Michael Medved, and I have heard the audio (with expurgation).
Al Franken is a disgusting, angry POS. He'll fit in real well with Harry Reid and Diane Feinstien.
