BO tries to have it both ways

President Barack Obama said his $787 billion stimulus bill “has worked as intended” as he pushed back against Republican criticism that his recovery program has failed to rescue the economy.
“It has already extended unemployment insurance and health insurance to those who have lost their jobs in this recession,” Obama, who is traveling today in Ghana, said in his weekly Saturday radio and Web address. “It has delivered $43 billion in tax relief to American working families and business.”
$43 billion is a much smaller number than $787 Billion. So what happened the rest of the money? And if it worked, why spend the other $744 Billion?
Obama said the measure “was not designed to work in four months -- it was designed to work over two years.”
But BO just said that it did work??
“Remember, we’re only 140 days into this deal,” Biden said in a speech in Cincinnati. “It’s supposed to take 18 months.”
Hmm, what did Obama say in February?
WASHINGTON, Feb 23 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama sought on Monday to bolster political support for the $787 billion economic rescue package, telling the nation's state governors the money would go out quickly and be spent wisely.
So, 18 months is what Obama defines as "quick"? I guess that's the the definition of "is".
I wonder what happend to the $43 billion?
About $15 million in taxpayer funds went to repairs for little-used bridges in rural Wisconsin. Nearly $10 million went to renovate an abandoned train station that has not been used in three decades. Also, $3.4 million went to an “eco-passage” for Florida wildlife to safely pass under a highway.
100 Stimulus Projects: A Second Opinion (or what most people call Pork and government waste)
Face it, Obama has made the recession worse and has seriously hurt the US's financial position globally. We need a smaller, more efficient governemt, not the bloated, wasteful behemoth BO and the Democrats have been selling.

I don't disagree with you Bart, but I think one area that government is responsible for is roads and bridges. Yes, the more local the funding and control the better.
My point was more to address that even Porkerstar is blasting Obama, on an issue that we can at least partially agree: roads and bridges.
