I was thinking the yesterday, amidst all the Teddy hoopla, that he might likely have cost the American tax payer more dough than any politician in history. He was lauded for being a part of nearly ever major bill to make it through the Senate since 1962. According to his website he wrote over 2500 bills, several hundred of which have become public law. He was the co-sponsor of 552 bills that became public law.
Is there any way to get a grand total of what The Honorable Senator from Chappaquiddick cost Americans in his 47 years? It has to be in the trillions.
A quick hit list of major Kennedy Bills.
Note, not ALL of these are bad bills.

Two teachers in Anoka-Hennepin District 11 have been found guilty, the the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, of sexually harassing a student.
Here are a few examples of the things they said to the kid.
His "fence swings both ways," teacher Diane Cleveland said during a class, according to the investigation by the Human Rights department. Another teacher, Walter Filson, said that Merritt "enjoys wearing women's clothes."

A few weeks back I wrote in to Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken to inquire about Town Hall meeting dates. Turns out they aren't holding them (yet). Luckily I was sent an email from Minnesota Majority about how to go about setting up a meeting with the Senators, or their staff.
You'll never believe how your average citizen has to sign up for a meeting with a sitting Senator. It isn't from their official Senate website, or their personal website. You have to head on over to BarackObama.com (yes, the campaign website) to setup an appointment with your elected representative. Organizing for America, gotta love it.

I recently had this question posed to me by a close, yet liberal, friend. I tend to peg Obama as a closet socialist. I'm not certain if she is throwing it back in my face, or is finally resigned to the fact the Obama is a socialist. She is a regular church attender, as am I, so it isn't the typical "liberal calling a conservative Christian a hypocrite" situation.
I argue that Jesus is actually the opposite of a socialist. I don't feel having empathy for the poor and providing comfort for them is the mark of a socialist. It is true Jesus encouraged others to help those in need, but he did it on a private level; charity if you will. Encouraging charitable giving and forcing citizens to give by raising their taxes are two different things.
I think that is the true difference between liberals and conservatives; liberals think government does the best job taking care of the citizenry, conservatives feel citizens and private organizations do the best job of it.

I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany. And Obama's right-hand man David Axelrod sends me emails. I just got one a few minutes ago. You can read it for yourself below.

I figured seeing as this is my first post on the Anti-Strib I'd better write about something in the Star and Sickle. So here it is. Reports have leaked that Gov. Tim Pawlenty won't seek re-election next fall.
At first glance this seems like a pretty unbiased report. It discusses the likelyhood that Pawlenty will make at run at the White House in 2012. Gov. Pawlenty is likeable enough, and certainly has raised his national exposure since last summer but I think the Republican nomination is Romney's for the taking. Romney has been a thorn in the side of the Obama White House since day one, and I believe Republicans are kicking themselves for not putting him on the ticket in 2008.
While Pawlenty running for the White House isn't out of the realm of possibility in 2012 I think another scenario is far more likely. Pawlenty is going to run against Amy Klobuchar in 2012. Four years as a senator would be a nice stepping stone for a WH run in 2016. The Strib doesn't even mention this possibility. Did it never occur to Strib editors that Pawlenty would even consider running for Senate? Or do they not even want to think about the chance that the evil Governor would dare challenge their handpicked liberal mouthpiece?
