Why some people vote Democrat

There is a substantial part of humanity that will always want to opt for the thin comfort of slavery... where as long as one pays tribute to the masters, the basics of susbsistence will be provided in return for one's loyalty. "Yes we can!"

EXCERPT: Since the demise of the GDR, many have come to recognise and regret that the genuine "social achievements" they enjoyed were dismantled: social and gender equality, full employment and lack of existential fears, as well as subsidised rents, public transport, culture and sports facilities.

Dateline December 7, 1942...

Statement of President F.D. Obama:
(read in Obama-voice)

December 7th 1942... a day that will live in ignominy... for the disgraceful behavior of the United States of America.

Addressing the American people today as their new President, I will clarify what has happened... despite the efforts of a rogue news outlet in Hawaii called Fox, that is wildly exaggerating this minor incident, for inflammatory partisan purposes. Let me assure you that government agents are right now rounding up the offending parties so they can no longer carry out their nefarious plan of political subversion.

What actually happened is... that there was a minor disagreement with the honorable Emperor of Japan,  about the aggressive nature of the deployment of our naval forces in too close a proximity to Japan - a distance of a mere 3900 miles. It is regrettable that our military posture... set in place by the previous Administration I have replaced...  had caused the Japanese Emperor... to correct this misdeployment with the justifiable means at his disposal.

There are those that would say that it was the right of America to project such a military threat so close to its neighbors. I reject that view... as do most Americans I know. There is nothing Americans love more than Peace... and I am determined to realize their highest aspirations. That is why I am calling for a new national commission... to determine which Pacific Islands and portions of the West Coast of North America... we will cede to Japan to justifiably compensate them for the wrongs America has long committed against them for years. I know all Americans ...desire a lasting Peace. It will be my responsibility... to make it a reality... unless errr... someone lives in LA... err... Hawaii... and err... err... ahh... whaaa?

Goddammit Axelrod! Fix the Teleprompter! Or hasn't it been invented yet???

Patterico uncovers fake "doctor" played by an Obamabot at Texas townhall. I wonder how many others there are? If they wanted to put in a plant at least they might have scrounged up a real doctor, not a college student who just plays one on TV. Or maybe she stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before.

I wonder if they are reading him his Miranda rights. I am sure in a week or so, Obama will express "concern" and call for "constructive engagement in an atmosphere of mutual respect".

Too late to affect the election, but maybe they are finally seeing the light behind the constructed facade of Obama.

Serious Questions - With All Due Respect

At the risk of angering our (mostly) benevolent Teal God, I have to question a few things here.

1.)  The new theme is understandably from the mind of our Il Duce and his preferred tropical hangout. Fine. But when I come here, I am confronted with my left brain wanting to duke it out (respectfully) with the opposition, and my right brain processes what is up here and senses I should just shut up and order a margarita and go with the (warm) flow.

2.) There was a hard black on white "just the facts ma'am" Jack Webbism to the original site. Seeing the crayon-crossed-out hammer and sickle spoke more directly to me than words ever could. We now have a cruising sailboat trying to tell us what this discussion place is about. Is that right? What is the message? Just asking...

Hot Knife Wednesday

Hello all A-Stribbers. For my first post in the new tropical blog, I present another remarkable example of the knife art of Wes and Pat Crawford. This knife is a Kasper Flipper, named after the codesigner - the late Bob Kasper - a renowned tactical knife fighter. This example has fossilized mammoth tooth scales, titanium bolsters, and engine-turning on all flat surfaces. Frankly, the only reason I am posting this, is that I am having a hard time justifying buying it given the economic troubles I am facing. This is a primo piece of functional art. Only $850 USD.

must...not...hit...buy...button... Whoops... DAMN!
