Another "mentally challenged" Senator

Speaking at a Senate hearing, John Berry, director of the federal Office of Personnel Management, also said the administration would soon put forward a plan to stabilize the postal service, which faces a deficit of nearly $10 billion this fiscal year and had warned that it could run out of money entirely this winter.

An overarching trend that has fueled the Postal Service’s crisis — and reduced annual mail volume by 22 percent since 2006 — is that Americans are e-mailing, paying bills electronically and reading shopping catalogs and news online.

Noting that some great books have been written based on letters sent by the Founding Fathers and by soldiers, Senator Claire McCaskill, Democrat of Missouri, urged the postmaster general to run an advertising campaign urging Americans to send more letters to each other.

I mean come on people, sure she is a moron and her idea is beyond Imbecilic, but doesn't stupidity of this level just cry out for the label of "RETARDED"?

From WSJ: ""Idiot," "imbecile" and "moron" are now insults, but they originated as clinical terms referring to various degrees of low intelligence. "Retarded" became the euphemism of choice until it too took on an insulting connotation. Now there's actually a website, R-word.org, whose goal is "to eliminate the demeaning use of the R-word." Meanwhile, the people to whom the R-word referred when it was a euphemism are said to have "special needs."

Maybe Pelosi and Obama could take a cue from the R-worders and start a site called S-word.org to eliminate that hurtful $830 billion word. For that matter, why doesn't Obama explain that the purpose of the $300 billion he's going to ask Congress to blow is to help the economy with its special needs?

Yep, Obama is a R-word too.

A pseudo-private, government-created, union-operated, semi-monopoly is on the verge of bankruptcy? Hold the presses!!

I always found it interesting that this semi-monopoly would be unnecessarily spending millions of dollars advertising during the Super Bowl, and sponsoring Tour de France teams, NASCAR entries, and numerous other sporting participants. Idiots running a business that have no idea what they are doing.

Why would a semi-monopoly need to advertise? Their first class mail and advertising parcels that get sent out by the ton business is a government mandated monopoly. They have to compete in the package business, but do so badly.

They sign insane union contracts that would drive any business to bankruptcy--like it has.

These negatives and McCaskell's idiotic response is to spend more money on advertising?

Any other corporation would either shut their doors or fire the 120000 workers, renegotiate the union contract--either up front or as part of bankrupcy proceedings, close the unproductive offices, change the delivery schedule, or any number of other things.

Instead we have an indeterminate business model that doesn't make any sense and operates under Congressional mandates. Is it a non-profit? Is it a stockless corporation? Are/is the postmaster(s) general theequivalent of a corporation's board? Can they grow? Can they shrink? I just don't get it. Sounds like something only a government could create.

Let the damn thing fold and reorganize into something that might make sense.

Let's see, you bully Tim, who admits to his special challenges, and then you freely disparage an entire group of upstanding people with a hideous perjorative slur,,,,,and then everyone is supposed to to feel all broken up about your being offended? Did you even read Bart's post? The English language is dynamic- descriptive, clinical words that describe sensitive subject matter become taboo or altered beyond recognition to later generations- bitch, bastard, colored, Negro, Indian, retarded, terrorist, "intrinsic aptitude" got Lawrence Summers nearly fired, gay, queer, "Merry Christmas" is a dangerous utterance in virtually every public workspace.

Get over it, Woody.

r------

I missed this earlier, are you freaking kidding me? This has to be satire, right. What's with the extra -? Retard is a six-letter word, not seven. This is worse than the recent PC-police "banning" of the word "niggardly", which had no racial connotation and was Scottish in origin.

r-----, the new n-----!!!!!!!

Lawrence wasn't fired, but he was forced to resign over "intrinsic apptitude". I refuse, Merry Christmas woody.

Retard is the new Nigger

Exactly what I thought when Woody posted R-----.

The PC crowd would be quite at home in China, they love banning things they don't like. Of course, then people stop respecting government, they resent the control.

If Woody wonders why the Tea Party is so popular, he need just look at the bullshit that Americans must endure these days when they attempt to communicate.

So which is OK to use today; Black, Negro, Colored, or African American? Over the brief span of my life, all of these have been OK and then not OK. The natural response is if they resent every attempt to be polite, I might as well default to nigger as they plan on getting offended anyway.

Stop trying to manage the vocabulary and start teaching people to have a spine. No one has a right not to be offended. Free Speech means the freedom to offend. Non-offensive speech needs no protections.
