I wonder if they are reading him his Miranda rights. I am sure in a week or so, Obama will express "concern" and call for "constructive engagement in an atmosphere of mutual respect".

Good luck to that soldier.
I wish America could ask his captors to treat him like we treat our prisoners, but instead I have to hope they don't.

Knowing the inhumanity and brutality of the good pious followers of Mohamed who captured our guy, I can hardly contemplate the thought.

Sequel, I wish Americans could take the high ground on these, but we torture prisoners, so we're assholes if we beg them not to.

Taliban probably thinks this guy might know something that could save lives among their people. According to some that's plenty reason to torture.

Moral equivilency alert. Watch as Americans cut the heads off of captured al Qaeda...

Kermit, I'm sure you understand the value of being able to stand up and ask for the same treatment for one of yours that you would give one of theirs.
No, we won't cut off their heads, but the way we handle them I bet they sometimes they wish we would.

Um, Ed-
I think you completely misread the taliban in particular and Islamists in general.
They don't give 2 shits about their people.
They only lust for power and death.
They wouldn't torture this poor sap because of some perceived mistreatment of Kalid Shikh Mohamed.
These guys just rape pillage murder and terrorize everyone they encounter, and that's their own people.
Infidels? Bad very bad.
They didn't need Abu Grib or Gitmo to cut off Daniel Pearl's head.
You really do need to try to comprehend the enemy Ed.

I'm just thinking about the way Islamists (Taliban, alQaeda, etc.) treat our soldiers when captured.
Before 9-11, Iraq war, George Bush Abu Grib, and Gitmo:
Tortured for fun and the sexual gratification that a sadist gets from violent mistreatment.
Then killed or beheaded alive. Bodies burned, and drug through the streets or just stepped on with shoes to show disrespect, or dumped in a ditch.
But now after Bush, and the hundreds or thousands of American lives saved by waterboarding KSM, well, look out cause they be really mad now.

I don't think it's sexual. I think it's power. Allah grants them the power to control and murder. I think the Catholics had the same juice in the Middle Ages, but they (mostly) overcame it.

That one guy in the video who chopped the head and danced around in the gore holding up the head by the hair, screaming Allah Akbar, had a woodie.
There is always the undercurrent of sex in Islamic violence. They are all severely sexually repressed with the understanding that they get to have an eternal orgy if they kill enough for Allah.
Murder and violence for Allah are always tied to sex. It's the only way they will ever be allowed to have sexual gratification.
It's a great recruiting tool for teenagers with raging hormones in a society that won't allow them to even see a female, let alone bang one.

Seriously, you think that prisoners of the Taliban will get better treatment than the prisoners we have detained?
Do you not remember the Taliban's brutal repression of thier own people?
written by Kermit , July 02, 2009
I don't know, Sequel. Their religion allows them what, four wives? That would seem like a lot of opportunity to excersize the weasel. Especially when they are basically under house arrest with zero rights.

"Seriously, you think that prisoners of the Taliban will get better treatment than the prisoners we have detained?"
Nope, but I do want America to treat foreign prisoners exactly like we want other nations to treat their American prisoners.
Simple.

The whole idea behind covering up the women is that they are so incredibly powerful sexually that if a man sees too much skin he's gonna to go ape-shit.
I think the sexual repression there is monumental.

Ed-
I think we should follow the Geneva conventions.
There are rules in this shit and we should follow them.
That includes treating prisoners humanely, and the summary execution of combatants who fail to follow the rules.

American soldier captured by Taliban
